
Poppy seed buns
Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. So, I'm sharing a simple and delicious recipe with you, namely, the pastry is ready. Serve at the table.

1. Prepare the ingredients. Let’s get started!

2. In warm milk (38‑39 °C) add sugar, a pinch of salt, yeast and dissolve all ingredients. Add sour cream, stir.

3. Add part of the flour, melted butter (or margarine), and start kneading the dough.

4. During the kneading process, add vanilla sugar, if you like, and lemon zest (or lemon juice). Cover the bowl with a towel and place it in a warm spot without drafts.

5. When the dough has risen, you will see that it has increased in size two to three times. Punch it down with your hands; no more flour is needed.

6. Divide the dough into 16 pieces (they didn't all fit on my board). Roll the dough (or rather, gather) into balls. Proceed to shaping. Roll a dough ball thinly into a rectangle. Brush with melted butter, I use a silicone brush, and sprinkle sugar and poppy seeds on top.

7. Roll into a tube (roll).

8. Join the edges of the roll. Step back from the edge a little and make a cut with a sharp knife, as shown in the photo.

9. "Open" the bun.

10. You get a beautiful bun like this. Do the same with the remaining dough.

11. Preheat the oven to 190 °C. Place the buns on parchment paper, spaced apart, as they rise well and increase in size. Let the rolls rest in a warm place for 20 minutes. Then brush with beaten egg and put them in the hot oven for 25‑30 minutes.

12. Remove the baked buns from the tray, let them cool slightly on a rack, and serve with tea.
