Sunflower seed mayonnaise

Description

Perfectly complements meat, poultry, and side dishes. Surprisingly, sunflower seeds really do make a thick and creamy mayonnaise. If you don't add lemon juice and spices, the sauce will taste like raw sunflower seeds, which is exactly what it's made from. Optionally, replace the mustard powder with a mixture of ground herbs. The sauce is ready. Store in the refrigerator and serve with dishes.

    Prepare the listed ingredients. Buy raw sunflower seeds.

    Pour them into a deep container, rinse off the shells, and drain the water. Pour water again and let sit for 2 hours.

    Drain the water and place the seeds into the bowl of a grinder or blender, or into a deep container if you plan to use an immersion blender. Add lemon juice, salt, mustard powder, and ground black pepper.

    Pour in the water and blend everything on pulse mode for about 5-7 minutes. Blend for a very long time to thoroughly grind all the seeds. At the end, add the vegetable oil and blend once again.

    Place the resulting mayonnaise into a sauce boat or bowl, ramekin, and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
