1. Rinse the rice under running water until the water runs clear, transfer it to a saucepan, and add 375 milliliters of cold water. Cook for 15–20 minutes until half-cooked.

2. Rinse the lentils as well, place them in a pot, cover with cold water, bring to a boil over heat, and cook for 10–15 minutes after boiling.

3. Peel the onion and finely chop it; wash the carrot and grate it on a fine grater. Sauté in a frying pan with sunflower oil. Wash the bell pepper and cut it into cubes, add it to the onion and carrot, then add tomato purée and mix. Add chopped garlic and simmer for a few minutes.

4. Add the partially cooked rice and lentils to the pan with the vegetables, mix, add spices and salt to taste. Cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle with paprika before serving.
