Onion pie
Description
The recipe won't take much time. As you can see below, preparing an onion pie is quite simple. And yet, you'll end up with a little culinary masterpiece made from basic, easily available ingredients. When I first baked this pie, my family couldn't even believe that the filling was made of... onions. You can easily modify the classic onion pie recipe, adding ingredients and adjusting it to your taste. For example, you can mix in some herbs, finely chopped ham, or smoked sausage into the filling. So grab the recipe and head to the stove to create your own little onion miracle :) The baked pie is ready. Serve it at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel the onions and slice them into rings or half-rings.
- 2
Step 2

Fry the onion in vegetable oil to your desired level of doneness. Some people prefer well-fried onions, while others like them only slightly cooked. I prefer a medium level of frying—when the onion is already golden, but still juicy.
- 3
Step 3

Beat the eggs and sour cream.
- 4
Step 4

Grate the cheese. You can use a coarse grater or a fine one. Experiment :) Mix the cheese with sour cream and eggs.
- 5
Step 5

Roll out about 2/3 of the dough and place it into the pan. Be sure to create edges.
- 6
Step 6

Place the fried onion on the dough, season with salt and pepper. Pour over the sour cream, cheese, and egg mixture.
- 7
Step 7

Cut strips from the remaining dough and arrange them on top of the pie in a lattice pattern. You can brush with egg yolk or use some of the leftover filling mixture to coat the top of the pie. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 30-35 minutes.
