
Onion bread from liquid dough
Description
The pastry is prepared simply and quickly. Making this pastry requires very little effort and a small set of readily available ingredients. If desired, you can add fragrant herbs and spices to the dough for onion bread, and also replace the yellow onion with leeks. Try it. It can be served with tea or coffee.

Prepare the necessary ingredients. For this bread, you will need one medium-sized onion.

Heat the water to a warm temperature (30‑35 °C), dissolve the yeast and sugar in it.

Add salt and sifted rye flour to the liquid, and stir.

Add wheat flour to the resulting mixture, sifting it while mixing the dough with a spoon or spatula.

Chop the onion into small, irregularly shaped pieces, add it to the dough, pour in the sunflower oil, and mix well again.

The batter should be slightly thicker than for making pancakes. Spread it into a thick-walled pan greased with butter.

Place the pan with the dough in a cold oven, set the temperature to 170‑180 °C, and bake the onion bread for 55‑65 minutes until a golden crust forms.

Leave the finished bread in the turned‑off oven for 10–15 minutes, then let it cool a bit at room temperature. After that you can enjoy the freshly baked onion bread!
