Lemon sugar
Description
Lemon sugar is a great addition to aromatic tea during autumn and winter days. Besides adding flavor and aroma, this sweet seasoning has cold-fighting properties and strengthens the immune system.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the lemon and sugar. Choose fragrant, ripe lemons. Scald them with boiling water for 30 seconds to release the aromatic oil from the peel.
- 2
Step 2

Grate the zest from each lemon using a fine grater. Be careful not to grate the white layer underneath the zest, as it is very bitter and will make the lemon sugar taste bitter.
- 3
Step 3

Put granulated sugar into a deep container. Add the grated zest to it. If you prefer a more intense lemon flavor, use 150 grams of sugar. For a milder taste, add 250 grams of sugar. Adjust according to your taste preference.

Step 4

Using a fork, thoroughly rub all the contents of the container so that the sugar becomes colored and absorbs all the aroma.
- 5
Step 5

Place the lemon sugar in a jar, container, or paper bag and store in a dry, cool place. Do not seal the container tightly, so that the citrus oil does not give the sugar a bitter taste.
