Bream baked in the oven

Description

The recipe won't take much time. I love fish, so I often cook it in various ways. I especially enjoy grilling it over an open fire, but that's not always possible, so I turn to the regular oven instead. This time I baked the fish in foil on a bed of onion and carrot, so that the fish could absorb all the flavors. See below for how it turned out. Serve hot.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. I have a fairly large bream. I cut off the head and slice open the belly, remove the innards, and thoroughly rinse the fish (both outside and inside). I make cuts on both sides along the entire length so that the fish can well absorb all the juices.

    2. Mix salt and ground black pepper, rub the mixture on the fish on both sides. Pour lemon juice over it and set aside to marinate.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    3. Unroll the foil and cut out a square like this. Peel the onion and carrot, slice the onion into rings or half-rings, and grate the carrot on a coarse grater. Place half of the vegetable mixture onto the foil to form a bed.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

    4. I carefully transfer the fish onto a vegetable bed of onion and carrots.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

    5. On top, I place the remaining vegetables. The first layer is onion.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

    6. Place the grated carrots on top of the onion. Break the bay leaves in half and place them on the fish.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

    7. I tightly wrap the foil, making sure there are no gaps or openings.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

    8. Since the fish is large, I bake it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 90 minutes.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

    9. Unwrap the foil and remove the top "layer" from the fish.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

    10. While baking the fish, I boiled the potatoes whole, then sliced them into rounds. I transfer the foil-wrapped fish to a serving dish, arrange the potatoes around it, add a little mayonnaise on each, and sprinkle with spices.
