Ladoo (Indian sweets)
Description
Ladoo are delicate little balls that melt in your mouth. This treat is sure to become a favorite dessert in your family. This recipe is as authentic as possible, although I use regular butter instead of ghee. You can prepare the traditional ghee in advance—there are plenty of recipes available online.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

1. I put the butter in a saucepan and place it over low heat, gradually melting it.
- 2
Step 2

2. Mung beans are a type of lentil. I rinse them thoroughly and spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet.
- 3
Step 3

3. Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 180 degrees until lightly golden.
- 4
Step 4

4. I wash the nuts (almonds and cashews), then chop them in a blender or with a knife (rolling pin). It is necessary to leave some whole pieces.
- 5
Step 5

5. Heat the pan, then add the crushed nut mixture and sauté in a dry pan until a pleasant aroma appears.
- 6
Step 6

6. I grind the dried mung beans in a blender into flour, doing this in several batches. I sift the mung beans through a fine sieve.
- 7
Step 7

7. Large particles remaining in the sieve are returned to the coffee grinder and sifted through the sieve again.
- 8
Step 8

8. In the end, I get mung bean flour, to which I add powdered sugar and roasted nuts. I add crushed cardamom seeds.
- 9
Step 9

9. Into a separate bowl, I add 4 tablespoons of flour and pour in 2 tablespoons of oil, mixing thoroughly until a moist crumb forms.
- 10
Step 10

10. I shape the crumbs into balls, and repeat the same steps with the remaining ingredients.
- 11
Step 11

11. Place the finished balls on a tray and put them in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
- 12
Step 12

12. I generously dust the finished balls with powdered sugar and serve them.
