Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Place the apples on a baking sheet and put them in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

The apples should be golden brown, with slight charring permitted.
- 4
Step 4

Take a 1.5-liter jar. Put the apples into it, lightly press them down, and pour in boiling water. Stir with a spoon. Let it sit for 10 minutes. During this time, a small amount of water will be absorbed by the apples, so top up with more boiling water to the very brim of the jar.
- 5
Step 5

Cover the jar with a lid and let it sit for 1.5 hours.
- 6
Step 6

After the time has elapsed, add sugar, mix well. Leave for another 20 minutes. It is necessary for the sugar to dissolve.
- 7
Step 7

Strain the contents of the jar through a sieve. We will no longer need the apples.
- 8
Step 8

Add the yeast to the apple decoction and stir. At this point, the water should not have cooled completely. The temperature should be approximately 30-35 degrees.
- 9
Step 9

Pour the decoction with yeast into a larger jar. Add another 1–1.5 liters of warm water. Cover with gauze and leave at room temperature for 3–5 hours.
- 10
Step 10

After the specified time, shake the jar; foam should appear on the surface. This indicates that the kvass is ready to taste. It should not have a sharp yeasty flavor. Chill the finished kvass and serve.

Step 11

The drink is ready.
