Chicken drumsticks Lyonnaise-style
Description
This recipe won't take much time. Lyonnaise-style chicken drumsticks—like all French dishes—are very elegant and unique. The recipe is quite simple and won't take much of your time, yet these chicken drumsticks look very festive on the table. The chicken meat turns out incredibly tender, and the sauce is aromatic. Lyonnaise-style chicken drumsticks are best served with vegetable puree. Recipe for Lyonnaise-style chicken: 1. Peel the tomatoes (it's convenient to pour boiling water over them) and cut into fairly large cubes. Slice the onion into thin half-rings and the bacon into thin slices. 2. In a deep, heavy-bottomed skillet, melt 70 g of butter. Once melted, add the chicken drumsticks, onion, bacon, herbs, and whole garlic cloves (do not chop). Sear the meat over high heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until nicely browned. Then reduce the heat, add tomatoes and spices, mix well, and simmer for about 20–25 minutes. 3. While the chicken is simmering in the tomato sauce, heat vegetable oil in another skillet over high heat and sauté sliced mushrooms (button mushrooms work best). Once well-browned, add the mushrooms to the skillet with the chicken. Stir and continue simmering for another 5 minutes, then pour in the wine. 4. Simmer the chicken in the wine for another 10 minutes over low heat. That's it—your Lyonnaise-style chicken drumsticks are ready. Serve hot.
