Description

Today I suggest you try making pilaf from a well-known Eastern grain—bulgur. Bulgur is made from wheat harvested at full maturity and processed in a special way. It is rich in B vitamins and essential minerals that are beneficial not only for health but also for weight loss. Regularly consuming this grain will not only improve your nervous system function but also enhance the condition of your hair and skin. The grain pairs perfectly with any meat, and in this recipe, we're using chicken fillet. This dish is quick to prepare and can be confidently enjoyed even for dinner.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. First, fry the sliced chicken fillet in vegetable oil.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

    2. Add the chopped onion and carrot halfway through frying. Fry, stirring constantly, until the fillet is golden brown. Then add tomato paste or homemade fruit drink. Mix well and simmer for another 3 minutes.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    3. I don't rinse bulgur since this grain comes pre-steamed in packages. If you try to boil it thoroughly, it won't work. When the chicken is ready, place it into the cauldron or pot where you'll be cooking the pilaf. Then sprinkle the grain on top.

    Step 4

    Step 4

    4. Pour in clean water so that it covers the grain by one finger's width. Place over heat, add spices to taste, and bring to a boil.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

    5. Add herbs or green onions if desired. Now, the most important part... Cook the pilaf over medium heat until the rice and meat rise to the surface.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

    6. Then I place the pot on a double boiler and finish cooking the pilaf. In total, it takes me about 40 minutes to prepare this dish. Cumin, mixed peppers, and garlic are great spices to use—garlic is a must! You can add it during stewing or to the sauté. If you like a pronounced garlic flavor, add 3-4 cloves by inserting them directly into the rice.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

    7. When the pilaf is cooking in a water bath, you can stir it. Don't worry about damaging the integrity of the grains.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

    8. Serve the chicken fillet with bulgur hot. If you wish to enhance the flavor, you can add bell pepper during simmering, but this is optional. This pilaf pairs perfectly with pickles and any vegetable salad.
