Chicken in a bag

180 min4 serv.20 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Chicken baked in a bag is great because you don't need to add any extra oil. The dish cooks in its own juices, and it doesn't lose moisture at all—in fact, it becomes even juicier! It's better not to tie the bag tightly, as it will expand from the high temperature, which could cause it to burst. So, prick the bag beforehand. You can also add vegetables, fruits, and berries into the bag. They will absorb the chicken juices and develop a unique aroma.

Instructions

    Step 1

Let's make a marinade sauce for chicken. You can use mayonnaise, thick plain yogurt, or many other ingredients. I use sour cream. I mix the sour cream with mustard, ground coriander, paprika, and black pepper. Grate the garlic on a fine grater. Mix everything together.

Now I'll prepare the chicken. I'll cook it whole, but you can use different parts in a similar way, for example, legs or wings. I coat the chicken all over, including the inside, with the sour cream mixture. Then I place it in a baking bag and let it marinate for an hour.

I decided to prepare a side dish at the same time while the chicken is marinating in the bag. For this, I'll take potatoes, peel them, and cut them into wedges. After an hour, I'll add the potatoes to the chicken, close the bag, squeezing out the air so it doesn't burst from expanding. Then I'll place the bag with the chicken onto a frying pan and put it in the oven at 180 degrees.

Half an hour after putting the chicken in the oven, check how much the bag has inflated. Most likely, you will need to make small holes or a slit on top to let the air escape. Bake for another half hour. Then remove it from the oven and carefully open the top of the bag slightly. This will help form a delicious crispy crust on the chicken.

After the next half hour, we take out our chicken. It has roasted beautifully and simmered perfectly. We pierce it with a fork: juice spurts out! I transfer the chicken and potatoes to a deep dish. Everything is ready, time to eat!
