Chicken with potatoes in the oven
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. One of the hearty and simple dinner options for a large group is chicken with potatoes. Bake them in the oven until the chicken develops a golden crust and the potatoes are soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. To check doneness, insert a knife into the thickest part of the chicken—if the juices run clear, the dish is ready. The dish can now be served.

Step 1

First, you need to prepare a spice mixture for this recipe. To do this, crush whole black peppercorns with salt and peeled garlic cloves in a small bowl. Soften the butter at room temperature, then add herbs and spices to it. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.

Step 2

Wash and dry the chicken carcasses (preferably use small ones, or young chickens). Then rub them with a mixture of butter, garlic, and spices. Place a bay leaf and a little thyme inside the cavity of each chicken.

Step 3

It is preferable to use young potatoes of uniform size. Wash them thoroughly, dry, and cut each potato in half without peeling the skin. Place the potatoes on a baking sheet, drizzle with vegetable oil, season with salt, pepper, and thyme.

Step 4

Place the chicken pieces on top of the potatoes. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees, put the baking sheet in and bake the dish for 40 minutes, periodically basting it with the released juices.
