Royal Chicken
Description
This recipe for Chicken Royale is a traditional dish of French cuisine. Honestly, I have no idea why it's called that or whether it has any connection to French kings and queens. Maybe it does, but for me personally, it's simply an easy-to-make and very delicious dish that I prepare quite often at home, since everyone in my family absolutely loves it. Plus, it's very easy to make, and I think anyone can handle this simple Chicken Royale recipe. Moreover, all the ingredients are quite common, and you can easily buy puff pastry at any store—the rest is just a matter of technique.

Step 1

Without rolling out the puff pastry, cut it into 4 squares, then cut each square diagonally. This should give you 8 puff pastry triangles. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the triangles on it, and brush them with beaten egg. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for half an hour.

Step 2

While the dough is baking, we will prepare the filling. Wash the mushrooms, then slice them thinly.

Step 3

We also wash the chicken fillet under cold water and cut it into small squares.

Step 4

The cheese should be grated on a coarse grater.

Step 5

Now we need two frying pans. In one, we'll sauté the chicken with added butter, and in the other, the mushrooms. Cook the chicken until done, and the mushrooms until excess liquid has evaporated. Then add flour to the mushrooms, stir, and pour in the cream. Now transfer the cooked chicken to the pan with mushrooms and sprinkle everything with cheese. Mix all ingredients, season with salt and pepper, and simmer over low heat for 7–8 minutes.

Now the final step: take the triangles out of the oven and carefully separate each one into two layers. Place the prepared filling on one layer and cover with the second. That's it! Our royal dish is ready to be served.
