Chicken cooked in foil over a campfire
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. For everyone planning a trip to nature soon and organizing a small picnic, I suggest trying this recipe for cooking chicken over an open fire wrapped in foil. Actually, this dish is really delicious, and to be honest, I like this chicken even more than regular shashlik because it turns out tastier. As for the meat itself, you can use any parts of the chicken you prefer for this simple foil-wrapped chicken recipe. By the way, you can also omit the potatoes and cook just the meat—it all depends on your preferences. However, I should say right away that it turns out more filling with potatoes. The ready dish can now be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

So, we wash the chicken and dry it thoroughly with paper towels. Then we rub the meat with spices and salt, add minced garlic and a little vinegar. We mix everything together and let the chicken marinate for some time.
- 2
Step 2

While the meat is marinating, we need to peel and wash the potatoes.
- 3
Step 3

Chop the fresh herbs, and peel and slice the onion into feathers.
- 4
Step 4

Next, we lay a sheet of foil on a flat surface, place several potato slices (8-10) and green onion stalks on it. Sprinkle everything with fresh herbs, ground pepper, and salt.
- 5
Step 5

Place the marinated chicken on top of the potatoes.
- 6
Step 6

Wrap everything very tightly in foil so that it forms something like a pouch. In the same way, arrange and wrap the remaining chicken, potatoes, onions, and so on in foil.
- 7
Step 7

Place our packets at the bottom of the grill. If there is any potato left, you can also season it with salt and pepper, wrap it in foil, and bake it together with the chicken.
- 8
Step 8

Cover everything with the preheated coals and cook the chicken and potatoes for an hour, turning the foil packets over several times during this period.
- 9
Step 9

An hour is quite enough for both the meat and potatoes to cook, so we carefully remove the packets from the coals and start our lunch. Enjoy your meal, everyone!
