Description

Tasty baked goods for the whole family. Meringue for decorating Easter cakes can be made using a water bath. This is the simplest method and works for everyone. Meringue can be made colorful. To do this, add food coloring to it. Cakes decorated in this way will be a hit on the festive table. They can be served with tea or coffee.

    Prepare all the ingredients for making kulich.

    Place the dough into the molds, filling them to one‑third of the capacity. Cover again with a towel and let rise for 25–30 minutes.

    Bake the kulichs in an oven preheated to 175–180 °C for 40–45 minutes. Afterwards, cool the kulichs and remove them from the mold.

    While the kulich are cooling, make a meringue. For this, place the egg whites in a bowl and add 120 grams of sugar. Set the bowl over a water bath so that its bottom does not touch the water. Heat the water. Stir the egg whites with the sugar until it dissolves. Then start whisking with a mixer. After 5–6 minutes the egg whites will begin to thicken. When the pattern from the mixer on the egg whites stops spreading, remove the bowl from the water bath and continue whisking for another 3–4 minutes. The meringue should hold its shape well and have a dense, smooth texture, similar to marshmallow.

    Using a pastry bag or syringe, apply a meringue pattern to the tops of the cakes. Decorate with colorful confectionery sprinkles. The Easter cakes are ready.
