Nut Easter Bread

Description

Homemade pastries for tea. Nuts are unmatched when it comes to adding to traditional Easter breads—they perfectly complement the flavor profile of this ceremonial baked treat, making the taste richer and more intense. Personally, I love nut-filled Easter breads very much, so I always make at least one every Easter. If you'd like to try baking a nutty Easter bread too, here's my recipe for you :) The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.

Instructions

We start with the starter: add yeast, 1/3 of the flour, and sugar (1 tablespoon) to warm milk, and mix thoroughly until smooth. Then, leave it in a warm place for 20 minutes.

Beat the sugar and egg yolks until pale.

Then, add cognac, vanilla, and butter (previously melted) to the egg yolks and mix until smooth. Pour this mixture into the sponge, mix again, then add the zest, remaining flour, and spices, and knead thoroughly.

Place the dough in a warm spot until it doubles in volume (about 1 hour). Then, punch it down and mix in the raisins and 3/4 of the walnuts. Next, transfer the dough into molds, filling them halfway, and set aside for half an hour. Afterwards, sprinkle the remaining walnuts on top. Place in a preheated oven at 180°C for 35 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 160°C and bake for another 25 minutes. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer or toothpick (it should come out dry). Remove from the molds, dust the top with powdered sugar, and let cool. Have a wonderful holiday!
