
Canned Corn for Winter
Description
Winter preserves at home. There is more than one recipe for preparing corn in jars for winter. This one is quite simple, and the result is simply amazing. 1. First, husk the corn and rinse it thoroughly under running water. 2. Put it in a pot and bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat for about 10–15 minutes. The younger the corn, the faster it will cook. 3. Cover the corn with cold water and let it cool. To fit the cobs better in the jars, you can cut them into 2–3 pieces, depending on size. 4. Wash the jars thoroughly and sterilize them. 5. Pack the corn into the jars. 6. To make the marinade, add salt, sugar, vinegar, and spices to water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 3 minutes. 7. Pour the hot marinade into the jars. 8. Corn in jars for winter at home can be stored under a screw cap in the refrigerator. You can also seal the jars; in that case, it is better to sterilize them for about 1 hour beforehand. Turn the jars upside down and let them cool. Then store them in a dark place. The preserve is ready for winter storage.
