Croissants in the oven

240 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Homemade pastries for tea. Croissant dough itself is neutral, and the filling makes them sweet or savory. You can prepare sweet croissants sprinkled with sugar on top, or make savory croissants with bacon, cheese, and tomatoes. Making croissants takes a long time, but it's worth it. Serve with tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

Mix the flour with a spoonful of sugar, salt, and butter. Then make a well, place the crumbled yeast and a tablespoon of sugar into it, and pour in 1/3 cup of warm water or milk.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Then add the remaining liquid and knead a smooth dough. Knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands. Add the melted butter and mix well. Let the dough rest for 1.5 hours.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Divide the dough into two parts. Roll out the first part into a large rectangle, and the second one into a slightly smaller rectangle. Place the smaller rectangle onto the larger one, fold it over several times, then roll it out again. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for another hour.

  4. 4

    Step 4

After an hour, roll out the dough again and fold it several times. Leave it in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes.

  5. 5

    Step 5

While the dough is resting in the refrigerator, prepare the filling. Then roll out the dough and cut it into triangles. Shape the triangles into croissants. Place the croissants on a baking sheet and let them rest for another 30 minutes. Before baking, brush the croissants with egg. Bake for 5 minutes at 200 degrees, then for another 10 minutes at 170 degrees.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Ready. Serve at the table.
