Croissants in an air fryer
Description
It pairs perfectly with tea and coffee. You’ll be surprised how tasty croissants can be at home—or rather, in an air fryer! You’ll need puff or puff yeast dough, a little filling, and 1 chicken egg for brushing the pastries. It’s best to buy two packages of dough, as the first batch will disappear from the plate in an instant. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Thaw the dough half an hour before you start cooking.
- 2
Step 2

Cut each sheet of dough in half diagonally to get triangles with long points.
- 3
Step 3

On the wide edges of the triangles, place ½ tablespoon each of dulce de leche (boiled condensed milk) or any other sweet filling. Do not use too much, because during baking the dough will compress the filling and it may leak out past the edges of the pastries.
- 4
Step 4

Starting from the wide edge with the filling, roll the triangles into tight rolls, gently flattening the edges and trying to bring the narrow end of the dough to the centre. Always keep the tip of the dough tucked underneath the croissant itself so it does not unroll during baking.
- 5
Step 5

Whisk one chicken egg in a small bowl or ramekin with a fork or whisk for 1–2 minutes. You may use only the yolk with 1 tbsp milk of any fat content.
- 6
Step 6

Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper and brush it with vegetable oil. Place the croissants on the paper at equal spacing, as they will expand while baking.
- 7
Step 7

Bake the croissants at 180°C for about 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Baking time depends directly on the size of the pastries. Then flip them over and bake for another 10 minutes, because the bottom will stay underbaked — an air fryer heats only from above.
- 8
Step 8

Take the croissants out onto a cutting board or plate and let them cool slightly; then dust with confectioners’ sugar.
- 9
Step 9

Serve the croissants warm at the table with milk, lemonade, coffee, or fragrant tea. Enjoy your meal!
