Croissants with ham
Description
Perfect for tea and coffee. We'll make these light croissants using ready-made yeast puff pastry. Their delicious aroma will fill the house and gather the whole family together for breakfast. Every bite offers tender ham and melted cheese — impossible to resist! The perfect combination of filling and flaky pastry. The recipe is very simple, and the list of ingredients is minimal. Be sure to make it and treat your loved ones. The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list. Take the puff pastry out of the freezer in advance and defrost it. Choose a cheese that melts well.
- 2
Step 2

Grate the ham on a grater or cut into small cubes.
- 3
Step 3

Divide the puff pastry into two equal parts and roll them out. If the dough is sticky, dust the work surface with flour. You can skip rolling the dough—if so, the croissants will turn out more voluminous with fewer layers.
- 4
Step 4

Cut each rolled piece of dough in half as shown in the photo.
- 5
Step 5

Using a pizza wheel or a regular knife, cut the dough into triangles.
- 6
Step 6

Place a little ham on each triangle (the wide part).
- 7
Step 7

Sprinkle with grated cheese. You can slice the cheese into thin pieces.
- 8
Step 8

Roll up the croissants, tucking in the edges with the filling. Roll the rolls from the wide end of the triangle toward the narrow end. While rolling, gently stretch the narrow end of the dough lengthwise; this will result in a tighter shape and more layers.
- 9
Step 9

Place the croissants on a baking sheet greased with butter or lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Brush with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- 10
Step 10

Bake the croissants in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until they rise and develop a golden crust. My croissants took 25 minutes to bake.
- 11
Step 11

The ham croissants are ready. Serve them hot or warm straight from the oven as a standalone dish for breakfast or a snack. Croissants pair perfectly with fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers), green salad, or a cup of coffee. An excellent appetizer for a buffet or picnic.
