Chocolate croissants from puff pastry

Description

The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. Croissant buns are made very quickly with just two simple ingredients – puff pastry and chocolate chips. This is a great breakfast dessert. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

    1. Remove the sheets of dough from the packaging and place them on baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Let stand at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

    2. Once the dough has thawed, unfold the sheets and cut them lengthwise with a sharp knife or pastry cutter into strips. Then cut each sheet in half in the opposite direction to form rectangles.

    3. Place 30 g (2 tablespoons) of chocolate chips in the center of each rectangle.

    4. Fold the right side of the dough over so that it covers half of the chocolate, and brush with water or beaten egg to moisten.

    5. Then fold the left side over to meet the right side, gently press together, pinching the sides closed at each end. Croissants can be prepared in advance, covered, and refrigerated overnight.

    6. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Bake the croissants for 20 minutes until golden brown.
