
Kreplach
Description
The history of Kreplach goes back to ancient times. Their triangular shape symbolizes the three patriarchs: Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham. During the holiday of Purim in Israel, Kreplach are made with dried fruits. For Shavuot, they are filled with cheese or cottage cheese. On other holidays, they are prepared with boiled meat. Kreplach are served with sour cream or any other sauce.

Prepare the ingredients.

Prepare the dough. Put flour and salt into a bowl.

Mix the sour cream with warm water and pour it into the flour with salt.

Knead a fairly firm but elastic dough. Let it rest for 20 minutes.

While the dough is resting, prepare the filling for the kreplach. Finely chop the cooked meat.

Finely chop the onion and fry in oil until golden brown. Add to the ground meat.

Season the filling to taste and mix.

Roll out the dough into a thin sheet, as you would for regular dumplings. Using a knife and a ruler, cut the dough into squares measuring 6-7 centimeters on each side.

Place a portion of meat with onions on each square.

Connect the ends of the square to form a triangle.

In a pot, bring water to a boil, add a little salt, and add the kreplach, stirring. Once they float to the surface, cook for another 5-6 minutes and remove.
