
Sugar twists from shortcrust pastry
Description
This recipe won’t take much time. If you’re making sugar pretzels for the first time, be sure to give this recipe a try. They’re very easy to make, and they turn out incredibly delicious. The dough is tender and crumbly—it literally melts in your mouth! If you like, you can sprinkle the pretzels with cinnamon on top. Children love taking part in making them, so be sure to enlist your little helpers! Cook with pleasure. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Prepare all ingredients according to the list.

Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, and egg yolk.

Add melted butter.

First mix everything with a spoon, then gather the dough into a ball with your hands. If needed, add 1–2 tbsp ice-cold water. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Pinch off small pieces of dough and roll them into thin ropes, then twist each one into a little pretzel shape.

Arrange the prepared pieces on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar. Bake in the oven at 180°C for about 15–20 minutes.
