Cinnamon pretzel
Description
This pretzel can also be prepared for fasting. As you may have noticed, the recipe contains no eggs or milk. But you can use a rich yeast dough with eggs instead. To make a cinnamon pretzel, I also recommend adding some nuts to the filling—in my case, walnuts. The baked goods are ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

If using frozen dough, let it thaw at room temperature first. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 45 by 30 cm (approximately) rectangle. Mix cinnamon with 2–3 tablespoons of sugar and chopped walnuts. Brush the dough with vegetable oil and evenly sprinkle with the cinnamon-nut mixture.

Step 2

Then roll the dough into a tight roll.
- 3
Step 3

Make a longitudinal cut through the center, leaving a 5 cm distance on one side untouched.
- 4
Step 4

Then braid the halves together, slightly turning them outward so the cinnamon shows through.
- 5
Step 5

Seal the edges of the braid, thus forming the pretzel into a ring.
- 6
Step 6

Carefully transfer the ring to the baking sheet; I recommend squeezing it smaller in diameter first, then stretching it back out again on the baking sheet.
- 7
Step 7

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 35-40 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

You can serve the ready-made pretzel with cinnamon hot from the oven; the crumb is very appetizing, and the aroma is simply delightful.

Step 9

It's very delicious to eat a pretzel with cocoa or warm milk.
