Cutlets in gravy baked in the oven
Description
You can prepare the cutlets using ready-made minced meat (I used ready-made pork mince). If you don't trust store-bought mince, you can always prepare it yourself. By the way, you can also make minced cutlets by chopping the meat finely. Additionally, I suggest preparing a vegetable sauce with sour cream and tomato juice for the cutlets. You may substitute tomato paste for the tomato juice.

Step 1

First, prepare the stuffing for the cutlets: mince the meat (or use ready-made minced meat), cook the rice until half-done, and chop and boil the cabbage as well (it's very convenient to cook both the rice and cabbage simultaneously in a steamer—this is quick and gives excellent results). Then mix the minced meat, rice, cabbage, egg, one finely chopped onion, and spices. Stir thoroughly.

Step 2

Roll the cutlets in breadcrumbs. Now there are two options: you can lightly fry the cutlets in a pan until golden brown (about 10 minutes), or place them in the oven for about 10 minutes to brown. Personally, I prefer frying.

Step 3

Prepare the sauce: finely chop the onion, grate the carrot, and sauté in a pan with vegetable oil. Then pour in tomato juice and sour cream, mix well and bring to a boil. Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish, pour the sauce over them, and bake in the oven at 200°C for 25–30 minutes. Check for doneness during the process.

Step 4

The ready-made cutlets in gravy baked in the oven turned out very juicy and aromatic. You can also serve them with mashed potatoes.
