Easter baskets
Description
An excellent edible decoration for a festive table. First, prepare the dough—dissolve yeast in a small amount of warm milk. Mix the remaining milk with the beaten egg, sugar, salt, water, flour, and the activated yeast. Knead the dough and let it rise for an hour. Shape the dough into strips. Braid a basket using an upside-down bowl as a support. Brush it with egg wash and bake in the oven. Then prepare the basket rim and handle. Assemble all parts. Enjoy your celebration! Serve with tea or coffee.

Step 1

Dissolve the yeast in a small amount of warm milk and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Mix the remaining milk with the beaten egg, sugar, salt, water, flour, and the activated yeast. Knead the dough and let it rise for an hour.

Step 3

Wrap a bowl of suitable shape with foil and place it on a baking sheet. Position 14 strands vertically on top and press their ends down with a weight. Weave horizontal strands between the vertical ones and braid the basket as shown in the photo.

Step 4

Beat the egg with a spoonful of milk and a small amount of butter. Brush the mixture onto the basket and bake in the oven at 180 degrees until golden brown. Then let it cool and remove from the bowl.

Step 5

Braid a basket rim from three strands, brush with egg and bake. Attach the rim to the basket using a few toothpicks.

Step 6

Bend a piece of clean, stiff wire into an arch and wrap it with a rope of dough, leaving small free ends. Grease the handle, bake it, and attach it to the basket. The dish is ready; all that's left is to fill it and place it on the table.
