Description

This recipe won't take much time. Unfortunately, not everyone has a good experience using a canning key—sometimes jars bulge and the preserves have to be thrown away. Here's a very simple alternative: how to make compote for winter without sealing. All you'll need are jars and screw-on lids. 1. Start by preparing the fruits or berries for your compote. You can use absolutely anything you like. In this case, we're using apricots. If you want to preserve their shape, wash them thoroughly and prick them several times with a fork. 2. Sterilize the jar beforehand, and place the lid in boiling water, keeping it on a low simmer. 3. Place the fruits into the jar. In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. 4. Add sugar and cook for about 2–3 minutes. Pour the hot syrup over the fruit and let it sit for about 5 minutes. 5. Carefully pour the syrup back into the saucepan. Add citric acid and bring to a boil again. 6. Pour the boiling syrup back into the jar. Remove the lid from the boiling water and quickly screw it onto the jar. 7. Turn the jar upside down and leave it until completely cooled. That's it—delicious and simple homemade compote for winter, made without sealing, is ready. Serve chilled.
