Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I don't remove the cherry pits, as it's completely unnecessary for making compote. If you don't have kitchen scales, you can measure the amount of cherries using a half-liter jar—it's very simple and quick.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Wash and sterilize a 3-liter bottle. You can sterilize it in several ways: pour boiling water inside, hold it over steam (you can use a small saucepan or kettle for this), or use a steamer or microwave. I'm sure every housewife has her own proven methods—use whichever is most convenient for you. Using a half-liter jar, measure the required amount of cherries and place them into the sterilized bottle. Add a glass of sugar as well.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Pour boiling water over everything and immediately seal the jar (by the way, it's also advisable to sterilize the lids). Then turn the jar upside down and cover it with a terry towel. This is necessary to slow down the cooling process and allow the drink to absorb the cherry flavor and aroma more quickly.

    Step 4

    Step 4

That's it, the compote is ready. It doesn't have the characteristic color yet, but wait a little — and everything will be perfect!

    Step 5

And here's what the cherry compote will look like the next day after canning! It has had time to cool down and has developed a beautiful bright red color!
