Step 1

Place the dried fruits in a colander and rinse thoroughly under a large amount of cold running water. For this recipe, you can choose any dried fruits according to your taste. These can include apples, pears, plums, raisins, apricots, prunes. The more varied the mix, the tastier the compote will turn out.

Step 2

Place the washed dried fruits into a saucepan of suitable size and cover them with clean cold water. Let them soak for five to six hours, or preferably overnight. Then, place the saucepan with the dried fruits and the same water on the stove. Turn the heat to maximum, and once the compote comes to a boil, reduce the heat to the lowest setting.

Step 3

While the compote is boiling, you need to prepare the rose hips. The berries should be cleaned of seeds and hairs found inside. It's better to do this with gloves to avoid irritating the skin of your hands.

Step 4

To allow the rose hips to steep well and release the maximum amount of beneficial substances into the liquid, they should be crushed. This can be done using a sharp knife if the berries are dried, or with a mortar and pestle if they are completely dry.
- 5
Step 5

Add the rose hips to the pot of boiling dried fruits. Mix all the ingredients and let the compote simmer on the stove.

Step 6

Simmer the compote for ten to fifteen minutes with the lid on. Add sugar at the end of cooking. If you prefer sweeter drinks, simply increase the amount of sugar by one and a half times.
