Plum and pear compote for winter
Description
Plum and pear compote is one of my child's favorites, so I always try to make a little each year. You can prepare this compote in two ways: by placing the fruit and sugar directly into jars and pouring boiling water over them, or by cooking the fruit first, then pouring the ready compote into jars. I prefer the second method—I find that the compote turns out more rich and vibrant in flavor. Give it a try. The drink is ready to serve.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I use sweet-sour plums, and the pear is quite sweet.
- 2
Step 2

Wash the pear and cut it into slices.
- 3
Step 3

Wash the plums, halve them, and remove the pits.

Step 4

Bring 2 liters of water to a boil, then add the fruits and sugar. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your taste. By the way, you can omit the sugar entirely if the fruits are sweet and you don't like added sugar. Simmer the compote for 8–10 minutes.

Step 5

When the compote acquires a delicate pink hue, pour it into sterilized jars. You can choose not to put the fruits into the jars and pour only the compote, but I still add them to allow the compote to absorb the plum and pear flavors even more during cooling.

Step 6

Seal the jars with metal lids and store in a cool place.
