Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. The taste of the compote depends on properly selected lemons. It's best to buy citrus with juicy, sweet peel. Therefore, choose fresh lemons that are bright yellow and have a fairly thick peel.
- 2
Step 2

Thoroughly wash the lemon using a fruit and vegetable brush. Place it in a deep plate, pour boiling water over it, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the lemon into random pieces and transfer to a saucepan or frying pan.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in the water, add sugar, and bring to a boil.
- 5
Step 5

Simmer for about 3-5 minutes, then remove from heat and use a spoon to lightly mash the lemons, allowing them to release all their juice.
- 6
Step 6

Add the washed mint sprigs or leaves. Place the compote over heat and bring to a boil again.
- 7
Step 7

Remove from heat and strain. If you are using honey instead of sugar, add it at the end of cooking so it doesn't lose its beneficial properties and valuable microelements. It's best to add honey to slightly warm or cold compote.

Lemon compote is ready! Enjoy!
