
Strawberry and banana compote for winter storage

Wash and dry the strawberries, then remove the stems. Peel the banana and cut it into pieces.

Wash the preserving jar thoroughly with baking soda, then rinse well under warm running water. Sterilize the jar and lid using your preferred method—over steam, in the oven, or in the microwave. Place the strawberries and banana into the jar.

On the stove, bring clean water to a boil, pour the boiling water into a jar, cover the mouth of the jar with a lid, and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, pour the water back into a saucepan, bring it to a boil again, and return it to the jar; let it sit undisturbed for another 10 minutes.

Again, pour the water back into the saucepan, add granulated sugar, and boil the compote for 2 minutes.
