Strawberry compote for winter storage

Description

The drink is quick and easy to prepare. Of course, besides strawberries, we'll add mint and lemon. This compote is best served chilled. Keep this recipe in mind—it will definitely add variety, brightness, flavor, and richness to your diet during winter.

    Prepare the strawberries, mint, and lemon.

    Wash the berries and mint.

    Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice the lemon, removing the seeds.

    Wash the preserving jar thoroughly with baking soda, then rinse well under warm running water. Sterilize the jar and lid using your preferred method – over steam, in the oven, or in the microwave. Place the strawberries, lemon, and mint into the jar.

    On the stove, bring clean water to a boil, pour the boiling water into a jar, cover the mouth of the jar with a lid, and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, pour the water back into a saucepan, bring it to a boil again, and return it to the jar; let it sit undisturbed for another 10 minutes.

    Finally, drain the water into the saucepan, add sugar and cook for a minute. If desired, you can add a little more sugar.

    Return the compote to the jar.

    Seal the jar tightly with a sterile lid and place it upside down. Cover the preserve with a warm blanket or cloth and leave undisturbed for 24 hours. After this time, transfer the preserve to the pantry.
