
Strawberry and currant compote for winter
Description

Prepare the ingredients.

Wash the strawberries and currants, then dry them. Remove the stems from the strawberries.

Wash the preserving jar thoroughly with baking soda, then rinse well under warm running water. Sterilize the jar and lid using your preferred method—over steam, in the oven, or in the microwave. Place the strawberries and currants into the jar.

On the stove, bring clean water to a boil, pour the boiling water into a jar, cover the mouth of the jar with a lid, and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, pour the water back into a saucepan, bring it to a boil again, and return it to the jar; let it sit for another 10 minutes.

Finally, drain the water into the pot, add sugar, and boil for one minute. If desired, you can add a little more sugar.
