Viburnum and apple compote
Description
The drink is quick and easy to prepare. Viburnum owes its healing properties to its rich content of beneficial nutrients. The high levels of ascorbic acid and other antioxidants make viburnum berries an indispensable aid in fighting colds, especially during epidemics. Serve chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Wash the dried apples. I use a colander with large holes. Place the washed apples into a large pot.
- 2
Step 2

I bought a bunch of viburnum. Those who grow it at home can use as much viburnum as they like—the resulting compote will have a more or less intense flavor. Add the viburnum to the apples. I use viburnum together with the stems.

Step 3

Add washed dried (or fresh) rose hips.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in water. Place over heat and bring to a boil. After boiling, cook for another 10-15 minutes. The dried ingredients should be well cooked.
- 5
Step 5

At the very end, add sugar to the compote to taste. I used 6 tablespoons for this amount of liquid. Bring to a boil—then turn off the heat. Pour the ready viburnum and apple compote into cups and serve.
