Description

Sharing a recipe for homemade compote made from the wonderful berry—chokeberry. The compote turns out aromatic, very tasty, healthy, and has a bright, rich color. The ingredient quantities are given for one one-liter jar. This preserve can be stored in any dark and cool place in a typical city apartment. Ready to serve.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

To prepare a fragrant, tasty, and healthy compote for winter, we will need water, fresh serviceberries, and granulated sugar.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Sort the berries, removing stems and leaves. Rinse them and drain in a colander or sieve.

    Step 3

    Step 3

I'll use a 1-liter jar. This size fits perfectly in the microwave, where I carry out the sterilization process. Wash the jars thoroughly, pour about 50 ml of water into the bottom, and place them in the microwave to steam on maximum power. For one 1-liter jar, about 5 minutes is sufficient. If you're sterilizing, for example, three 1-liter jars at once, 8 to 10 minutes will be enough. Wash the lids, place them in a small pot, cover with water, and boil for 3 minutes. I turn off the heat and leave the lids in the hot water. Fill the sterilized jars with the prepared berries. If you don't have kitchen scales, simply fill them to one-third of their total capacity.

    Step 4

    Step 4

Pour boiling water over the berries in the jars. Cover the jars with prepared lids and let stand for 15 minutes. During this time, the berries will partially release their juice and color the water. By the way, this is how the berries are sterilized.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Next, drain all the liquid from the jars into a saucepan. Add sugar, bring to a boil, and simmer for just 1 minute.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Pour the berries with boiling compote. Immediately seal with lids, turn upside down, wrap in a blanket or throw, and leave until cooled. The serviceberry compote is ready. Store this preparation in any cool, dark place.
