
Sausages in Dough
Description
The recipe won't take much time. A traditional European Christmas treat—sausages in pastry. But sausages in pastry made with this recipe will be a wonderful treat at any time of year. Whether served cold or warm, these sausages always taste delightful. Preparation will take you less than an hour, and baking will fill your kitchen with a delicious aroma. Serve with herbs and sauce.

1. In a large bowl, mix the margarine and cooking fat, add the sifted flour. Mix the ingredients with your hands; you should get fine crumbs. This will take approximately 2–3 minutes.

2. Add 3 tbsp water and knead the dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Divide the dough into three equal parts. Flour the work surface. Roll 1 portion of the dough by hand into a tube shape about 30 cm long. Do the same with the remaining 2 portions of dough.

3. Divide the sausage meat into 3 equal portions. With your hands, roll 1 portion of sausage meat into a tube 25 cm long. Do the same with the remaining 2 portions of meat.

4. Place each strip of sausage filling on a strip of dough. The dough strip should be slightly wider than the filling strip. Brush the edges of the strip with milk. Wrap the sausage filling in the dough. Seal the edges.

5. Using a knife, cut the resulting strip into three parts. Make slashes on top of each piece. Brush the top of the pastry with milk. Grease the baking sheet with fat, place the pastry on it, and put it in the oven at 200 degrees. Bake for 25 minutes or until the pastry is well browned.
