Description

Kołacz (Polish: kołacz) translates as "wheel." These cakes are traditionally served at weddings and during other holidays. The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.

    1. In a medium bowl, mix the yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar, milk, and 1 cup of flour. Let it sit in a warm place for about 15 minutes.

    2. Beat 4 eggs with 1 cup of powdered sugar until the mixture slightly thickens. Add flour and the yeast mixture, and beat until smooth. Gradually add the melted butter and continue beating for about 10 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rise.

    3. Grease a round baking pan with fat. Pour the batter into the pan and let it sit for a few minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the topping. Mix 50 g of butter, 3 tbsp of sugar, 1 tbsp of vanilla sugar, and ½ cup of flour. Set aside. Prepare the filling. Soak the raisins in water beforehand. Beat the cottage cheese or ricotta together with 4 egg yolks, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 2 tbsp of vanilla sugar. Add starch, melted butter, and raisins. Beat the egg whites into a foam and mix them into the cheese mixture. Preheat the oven to 190 degrees. When the batter has risen, pour the cheese filling over the batter. Sprinkle the cake with the prepared topping.
