Thoroughly wash and dry the orange, then grate the zest using a fine grater. Squeeze juice from the orange.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the cranberries with orange juice, zest, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a boil over medium heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, covered.
