Cranberries in sugar
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. This is a "two-in-one" recipe: you'll get sugared cranberries and, as a bonus, an amazing cranberry syrup. I inherited this sugared cranberries recipe from my grandmother, so it's time-tested, so to speak. By the way, you can use frozen berries as well. Good luck! The ready dessert can be served at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First comes the painstaking work. You need to sort through the cranberries, discarding all the spoiled ones. Then, using a toothpick, prick each berry.
- 2
Step 2

In a small saucepan, combine water and 2 cups of sugar. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Pour the resulting syrup over the berries.
- 3
Step 3

Cool the berries with syrup to room temperature, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- 4
Step 4

The next day, drain the syrup (by the way, this results in a delicious and very healthy cranberry syrup—don't throw it away under any circumstances; it should be used) and sprinkle the berries with the remaining sugar.
- 5
Step 5

Roll the berries well in sugar so that they are completely coated.
- 6
Step 6

That's it – the sugared cranberries are ready. Store them in a dry place for no more than a few days.
