Oat flour kissel
Description
Making oat flour kissel is very easy—just follow the step-by-step recipe. I intentionally didn't include salt and sugar in the ingredients, as oat kissel has a neutral, quite pleasant taste even without them. Customize it to your taste with various toppings—jam, preserves, berries, fruits, honey, raisins, nuts, or simply a piece of butter—and each time you'll enjoy a completely different flavor. The drink is ready to serve.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

If you plan to make jelly from flakes, first grind them into flour by pouring the oat flakes into a blender.
- 3
Step 3

Grind the flakes into flour.
- 4
Step 4

Pour 800 ml of cold water over the flour.
- 5
Step 5

Stir until smooth, with no lumps, and let it steep for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
- 6
Step 6

Strain the oat milk into a saucepan in which you will cook the kissel. Do not discard the pulp; it can be added to animal feed or used when baking bread. Add another glass of water directly to the pulp to extract as much oat "milk" as possible.
- 7
Step 7

Cook the kissel over low heat, stirring constantly. At this point, you can add sugar and salt to taste.
- 8
Step 8

Remove the kissel from the heat as soon as it starts to bubble.
- 9
Step 9

Serve the kissel with berries, fruits, jam, honey, or add nuts and raisins. This is a very healthy and delicious dish.
