Sprats, baked in the oven
Description
Suitable for both holidays and everyday meals. Oven-baked sprats are incredibly easy to make, but for them to turn out very tasty, you first need to choose them correctly and, second, clean and rinse them thoroughly. To give the fish a special flavor, I sometimes spray it with lemon juice right after rinsing and let it sit for 10 minutes. After that, the fish absorbs spices better and becomes more aromatic. Well, want to find out? It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Choose frozen sprats, but make sure there isn’t too much ice, and that after thawing the fish keeps its shape and integrity. Clean the thawed fish of its innards, rinse under running water, and place on a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Step 2

Place the sprats on a foil-lined baking sheet.

Step 3

Sprinkle the sprats with spices, pepper, and salt. Drizzle with flaxseed oil. I recommend using this oil specifically—it gives the fish a distinctive aroma, and it's incredibly healthy, so it's worth adding at least a little to all dishes.

Step 4

Cover the fish on top with another layer of foil and place it in the oven for 25 minutes at 180°C. Bake under foil for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and let the fish brown.

Step 5

Sprats baked in the oven are ready. Serve with any sauce — the same mayonnaise, or sour cream with garlic. Enjoy!
