Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Grate 180 grams of cold butter into a bowl, add 180 grams of sugar. Knead with your hands.
- 3
Step 3

Add one egg, 300 g of flour, 1 tsp of baking powder for the dough.
- 4
Step 4

Knead a soft dough.
- 5
Step 5

On a work surface, roll out the dough into a sheet, 0.7–1 cm thick. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 6
Step 6

Line the baking sheet with parchment paper, transfer the dough, and place it in the oven for 15–20 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

While the crust is baking, knead the cocoa dough. In a bowl, mix 180 grams of sugar and 180 grams of cold butter. Add 250 grams of flour, 1 egg, cocoa.
- 8
Step 8

Knead the dough.
- 9
Step 9

On a work surface, roll out the dough into a sheet 0.7–1 cm thick.
- 10
Step 10

Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 15–20 minutes.
- 11
Step 11

Ready layer of white dough.
- 12
Step 12

Spread the warm crust with jam (200 g).
- 13
Step 13

Remove the finished dark cake layer from the pan.
- 14
Step 14

Join the two layers together.
- 15
Step 15

Place the dough on top and leave for 2 hours at room temperature.
- 16
Step 16

After the allotted time, trim the uneven edges of the cake layer preparation with a sharp knife. Keep the trimmings.
- 17
Step 17

Take a ruler and cut strips of equal length and width.
- 18
Step 18

On a wide board or plate, start assembling the cake. For this, take one strip of the preparation and spread it with jam.
- 19
Step 19

Turn the strip onto its side so that the jam‑coated part ends up inside. Take another strip and spread jam on it, alternating colors. Adjust the cake’s width based on the number of strips you have. In my case, the width came from three strips.
- 20
Step 20

Having joined the strips, spread jam on the top.
- 21
Step 21

Next, take a strip, spread jam on its side, and lay it onto the layer you have. But make sure the black stripe is on the white one.
- 22
Step 22

Combine the remaining strips according to the previous principle, alternating and joining black with white.
- 23
Step 23

Spread the finished cake generously with jam.
- 24
Step 24

Grind the crumbs in a blender and coat the cake, pressing them in. Let the baked item sit at room temperature for 5–6 hours.
- 25
Step 25

Once the time is up, cut into portions and serve.
