Katyrma
Description
Tasty baked goods for the whole family. Serve the ready flatbreads together with a bowl of hot milk in which a little sugar should be dissolved. Break the katyrma into small pieces, place them in the bowl, add a piece of butter and stir. It turns out very delicious! This version will especially appeal to children. But the flatbreads are also tasty on their own; serve them with hot dishes. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Add water, salt, and sugar to the bowl.
- 3
Step 3

Add about 2 cups of sifted flour.
- 4
Step 4

Stir and gradually add the remaining flour.
- 5
Step 5

Knead a soft dough that doesn’t stick to your hands.
- 6
Step 6

Divide the dough into 8–10 pieces.
- 7
Step 7

Roll each piece out on a flour‑dusted surface. Do not try to shape the flatbreads into a perfect circle; the main task is to roll the dough as thinly as possible.
- 8
Step 8

Heat the pan well and place the first flatbread on it. Fry it until characteristic specks appear. Flip it. On top of it, lay the next rolled‑out piece of dough, and meanwhile brown the second side of the first flatbread.
- 9
Step 9

Then flip both flatbreads and fry the one that is now on the bottom.
- 10
Step 10

Next, place the third flatbread, and as soon as the bottom is browned, flip them again. After that, you need to flip the top one once more. In this way, all the flatbreads should be fried. If this process seems very complicated or not quite clear to you, simply fry them sequentially on both sides in a dry pan.
