Rinse the rice and mung beans and cover with water.

Sear the meat in a pan with salt and spices until a light golden crust forms.

Add the onion sliced into feathers (reserve one onion for serving) and fry the meat with the onion for another 5 minutes.

Add water so that it covers the meat by 2-3 mm above the surface, and add the rinsed mung beans. Simmer covered over low heat for 40 minutes, stirring as needed and adding water if necessary.
