Pumpkin porridge cooked in water

60 min4 serv.19 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The recipe won't take much time. Pumpkin porridge is usually made with rice or millet. Why not try making it with dumplings? By the way, you don't have to use rice flour for the dumplings—corn flour or regular wheat flour works perfectly as well. To prepare pumpkin porridge with water, we'll also need brown sugar, which you can replace with honey for an even tastier result. See the recipe below. Serve hot.

Instructions

    Step 1

    Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 3

    Step 3

Pour water over the pumpkin and put it on to boil. My pumpkin takes about 30-35 minutes to become soft.

    Step 4

    Step 4

When the pumpkin becomes soft, turn off the heat and let the cooked pumpkin cool slightly. Then blend it into a puree using a blender. Set aside for now.

    Step 5

For the dressing: mix 1.5 tablespoons of brown sugar (preferably) with rice flour, add a pinch of salt. Stir well.

Now make the dumplings: mix rice flour (half a cup) with a pinch of salt and sugar, add 4 tablespoons of hot water. This will form a firm dough.

    Step 7

    Step 7

    Form small balls.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Boil the balls in boiling water. This will take a couple of minutes; they cook like dumplings.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Put the pumpkin porridge back on the heat, pour in and stir the sweet mixture of brown sugar and flour. If it's too thick, you can add a little more water. Cook for about 2 minutes, then add the balls, stirring gently.

I leave a few balls aside to serve the finished pumpkin porridge cooked in water.
