Red lentil porridge with curry

Description

This red lentil curry porridge recipe is an absolute must to keep on hand. First of all, lentils themselves are incredibly healthy and should be cooked at least occasionally. Secondly, lentils are very easy to prepare—faster than peas or beans, since they don't require soaking. Thirdly, this porridge doesn't need salt and can be eaten without bread—making it an excellent dish for diabetics. Lentil porridge turns out very filling, yet low in calories.

    We cut the onion into cubes, and the carrots into not very small pieces.

    Soak the raisins in brandy, add two tablespoons of water, and set aside. Let it steep.

    Heat vegetable oil in a skillet and sauté onion and carrot until golden brown.

    Add lentils (previously rinsed), raisins, and spices to the pan. Pour in water (about one and a half cups).
