Instructions
- 1
Step 1

We'll start by preparing the vegetables: first peel the onion and slice it into half-rings.
- 2
Step 2

We also peel the carrots and cut them into strips; alternatively, you can grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
- 3
Step 3

Cut the meat into small cubes, approximately 1.5-2 cm wide.
- 4
Step 4

Now place a thick-walled pot on the stove and pour in some vegetable oil. When the oil heats up, add the onion to the pot and fry until it turns light golden.
- 5
Step 5

Then add the sliced meat to the pot with the onion and fry until half-cooked.
- 6
Step 6

After that, add the carrots and pour 1 liter of water over the meat and vegetables. Season with salt (about 2 teaspoons) and spices, cover the pot with a lid, and simmer the meat over low heat for an hour.
- 7
Step 7

When the cooking time is almost up, place a skillet on the heat and melt the butter in it. Add the buckwheat and fry, stirring, for about 5-7 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Then transfer the buckwheat groats into the pot with the meat and vegetables, spreading them evenly over the surface.
- 9
Step 9

Pour water into the pot so that the liquid level is 1.5 cm above the buckwheat. Turn the heat to medium-high.
- 10
Step 10

As soon as the liquid evaporates slightly and is no longer visible on the surface, reduce the heat under the pot to the minimum, cover it with a lid, and cook the porridge for another 20–30 minutes.
- 11
Step 11

When the time is up, turn off the heat, mix the buckwheat with the meat and vegetables—the dish is ready to serve. Enjoy your meal, everyone!
