Potato with pork on a baking sheet
Description
As a meat base, not only pork but also beef or chicken will work perfectly. You can even replace the meat entirely with mushrooms or other vegetables. It all depends on your imagination, taste preferences, and available ingredients. Preparing this dish won't take much of your time—just layer all the ingredients and bake in the oven. While it's cooking, you'll have time to prepare a salad, appetizers, and other dishes.

Step 1

1. Before cooking, be sure to thoroughly wash the pork and cut it into small pieces against the grain—this will make the meat juicy rather than dry, and easier to bite. Lightly pound the pork to make it more tender.
- 2
Step 2

2. Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly (no more than 5 millimeters thick). Soak the potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 3
Step 3

3. Then drain the water and dry the potatoes with a paper towel. Grease the baking sheet with oil, place the potatoes on it, season with salt and pepper. Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings, then place it on top of the potatoes.

Step 4

4. Next, place pieces of pork in a single layer over the potatoes and onions, season with salt and pepper.

Step 5

5. Brush the pork with mayonnaise. Grate a piece of cheese on a coarse grater and sprinkle it over the pork.

Step 6

6. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees, place the baking sheet inside and bake for 40–50 minutes, checking occasionally for doneness. Let the finished dish cool slightly, then slice and serve with pepper and tomato slices.
